'I can't breathe,' teen told grandmother after being shot 5 times

In 2018, Gregory Thompson Jr. was shot 5 times - dying in his grandmother's arms shortly thereafter. In August 2019, Judge Ethna Cooper sentenced Desean Bowman (17) to 25 years in prison with no possibility of early release. Bowman, who pled guilty to the murder, offered little explanation for the crime.

At sentencing, Judge Ethna Cooper said, "I don't know how someone,16 years old, could basically execute another human being...over what? Because of what? There's no answers."
